Fun Day 19th September

We held our third and final Fun Day of the season on Sunday 19th September, and yet again, we were very fortunate that the weather remained fine throughout.

With the help of a grant from Sports England, we have managed to ensure that there is adequate outside seating, and plenty of hand sanitiser spread around so that everyone can feel safe at all times.

On this occasion 28 members joined in, including a number of our 22 new members, so it was another great opportunity for new and old to meet in a fun environment and play together. This time there were 2 morning sessions of 9 ends and one in the afternoon, so the day was a little more manageable. Again rinks and playing positions were drawn for each of these, so that teams changed each time, providing a better chance for everyone to get to know one another.

After prize money had been paid out, we raised £215 to go towards our centenary fund, in readiness for our Centenary Year Celebrations in 2023. We also raised additional money for charity and donated £56 to The Motor Neurone Association, the charity chosen by Richard Thomas, our winning Top Shot for the day.

As has been the case all season, the rink bowled really well, and everyone thoroughly enjoyed Marie's homemade cakes and bread pudding, with their coffee and lunch breaks. We missed Ivor on the bar this time, but brother John, once again provided a lot of fun during his round up "Fines" session. These are just not to be missed!

A great day was had by all. It looks like Fun Days are here to stay, but alas you'll now have to wait until 2022. Keep an eye out on the website for all the up to date news, and the next opportunity to join us.
