Fun Day, Hog Roast and Pair Competitions

The weekend of 22/23 July was a busy one at Rosedale Bowls Club.

Saturday saw a fun day, finishing with a hog roast. Despite continuous rain throughout the event, bowlers, all dressed in bright colours for the occasion, entered into the spirit, taking part in a number of fun events, the most popular of which involved bowling woods into holes in buckets! A marquee protected spectators from the downpours and, with some 80 people signing up for the day, members, guests, and their children enjoyed all the club facilities and ended the afternoon with a delicious hog roast.

As usual, takings were shared amongst competition winners, club funds and a charity donation, as nominated by raffle winner Barbara Richings.

Sunday saw the preliminary rounds of the open drawn 2 wood pairs club competition. With much better weather, 16 teams took part in the knockout matches and two teams emerged as the finalists: John Gorry and Barry Turner will play Fred Cable and Tommy Earl in the final game during our club competition finals weekend at the end of September.
